Feature Questions

Why did you choose Saint Joseph's College?

I chose SJC because I didn't want to just be a number. I wanted to be a person with a face and a purpose. Saint Joseph's also gave me the opportunity to swim and be successful within our conference.

What is/was your favorite class at St. Joe's and why?

I enjoy any of my instructional skills classes within my major because I am able to learn about something I enjoy and will help me in the future.

What was your first job (actually received a paycheck)?

I worked at a small summer resort in New Hampshire called Twin Lake Villa as a prep cook and a line cook.

Who would you like to trade places for a day with and why?

I think it would be cool to trade places with any Olympic athlete and experience that level of competition, as long as I could keep their skills for the day.

What is on your "Bucket List?"

I'd love to go skydiving, travel around the world and experience different foods each day, scuba dive in St. Thomas, travel to France, swim in the Bird's Nest in Beijing, China

Talent you'd most like to have:

It would be cool to be able to sing because I have no voice now.

What do you drive?

White 2004 Honda Accord

What is your motto?

Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.

Do you have any superstitions before you go into a big game?

I always listen to the same song (Stampede by Dimitri Vegas) on repeat right before my races.

What is your most memorable moment as an athlete at SJC?

I'd say that getting second place at the GNAC Championship this season was at the top of my list. For the team (of only 8 girls) and myself, we all have worked so hard this season and this showed that we not only have the skill to be successful but we have the heart of a team of 30 girls. To my teammates and myself, this was more like a first place finish.

Besides your parents, who has had the greatest impact on your life?

I would say my sister. Even though we don't get along most of the time, I have no idea what I would do without her.

Can you tell us something about you that most people don't know?

I played ice hockey in high school

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I hope to have a job teaching Physical Education somewhere in New England and hopefully coaching swimming.

If you could meet anyone (past or present) who would it be and why?

Jessica Hardy – so I could learn more about her skill development in the breast stroke

What are your hobbies?

I obviously like to swim and be active. I also like to be outdoors at the lake and go kayaking or paddle boarding.

What is your ideal day away from athletics?

I love to spend time at my house on Sebago Lake with my family. Of course, go out on the boat and enjoy the water.

Do you plan on playing sports or coaching after you graduate?

I would love to do Masters swimming to continue being in the pool. I'd love to coach any of the sports I've done in my past, including swimming, softball or field hockey.

What are your personal and team goals for this season?

I want to place higher than I did last season at the New England Championships as well as swim faster than I ever have. I think our team has the chance to place higher overall at New England's than the team ever has in school history and I'd love to see that happen!
