Monks Rank Among National Leaders in Final NCAA Statistical Rankings

STANDISH, Maine - The final 2015-16 NCAA DIII Statistics rankings are now available. Five Saint Joseph's College teams and eight individual athletes finished in the top 25 in various categories for their respective sports. In all, the five programs accounted for 15 top-25 rankings while the six individual athletes notched 12 top-25 efforts last year.

Highlights of this list include:

  • Led by senior Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, N.H.), who ranked 22nd in NCAA DIII with 128 total blocks, the Saint Joseph's volleyball team paced the entire NCAA (all three levels, 1,032 teams) with a .041 opponents' hitting percentage
  • The SJC women's lacrosse team ranked in the top 25 in seven different categories, including third in scoring margin (9.11), fourth in scoring defense (5.47), and fifth in assists per game (8.63)
  • Women's lacrosse senior goalie Michelle Cunha (Enfield, Conn.) finished the season second in goals against average (4.73) and 12th in save percentage (.541)
  • Freshman Jennelle Thompson (Farmington, N.H.) ranked among the nation's leaders in two sports, finishing the volleyball season 23rd in total digs (650) and the softball campaign 10th in saves (4)
  • In addition to the NCAA leaderboard, the Monks - collectively - led the conference in 21 different categories (including nine by the women's lacrosse team) and 10 individual SJC athletes combined to lead the GNAC in 22 categories during the 2015-16 academic year
