STANDISH, ME - The final 2013-14 NCAA DIII Statistics rankings are now available. Seven Saint Joseph’s College teams and 14 individual athletes finished in the top 25 in various categories for their respective sports. In all, the seven programs accounted for 16 top-25 rankings while the 14 individuals notched 22 top-25 efforts last year.
Highlights of this list include:
- For the second-consecutive year, senior softball pitcher Rae-Marie Copan (Newton, Mass.) registered the lowest Walks Allowed per 7 Innings rate (0.26) in all of NCAA Softball. The 2014 GNAC Pitcher of the Year walked just 18 batters over 394.1 career innings – a 0.32 walks per seven innings rate
- Basketball senior guard Matthew Medeiros (Westport, Mass.) capped his final collegiate season ranked third in three-pointers made (103), fourth in three-pointers per game (3.68) and eighth in three-pointers attempted (238)
- Lacrosse junior goalie Ethan Rettew (Ephrata, Pa.) was fifth in goals against average (6.37) and 13th in save percentage (0.63)
- Baseball was sixth in shutouts (8) and seventh in strikeouts per nine innings (8.4) with four top-25 rankings overall
- Men’s lacrosse featured one of the stingiest defenses in the country, posting the fourth-lowest scoring defense (6.0) while also finishing in the top 25 in man-down defense and caused turnovers per game
- Field hockey finished the year ranked second in shutouts per game (0.53) and seventh in goals against average (0.89)
- Women’s lacrosse was third in NCAA DIII with 31.75 ground balls per game
- Softball wrapped up the 2014 campaign ranked sixth in winning percentage (.850) and fewest hit batsmen (3)
