STANDISH, Maine – The Saint Josephs’ College Athletics Department is pleased to announce the dates for the 2016 Annual Alumni & Friends Golf Classic and 2016Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

The 26th Annual Alumni & Friends Golf Classic will be held Friday, September 9th and the 2016 Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, September 10th. The 14th Saint Joseph’s College Athletics Hall of Fame Class features Julia Ostrowski '10 (Field Hockey), Sheri (McCarthy) Piers '93, Bryan Rubenskas '87 (Basketball), and the 1986 Baseball Team. 

The Golf Classic, which will be hosted at beautiful Spring Meadows Golf Course in Gray, Maine, serves as one of the department’s largest fundraisers of the year as all proceeds from the event help support Saint Joseph’s Athletics. The tournament – which is open to everyone – features various contests as well as numerous prizes and a delicious buffet banquet. Those who have attended past Golf Classic events should note the earlier start. The schedule for the day is posted below.

Each player will receive a gift bag with goodies related to the College and our sponsors, a ticket for a lobster roll on the course during the tournament, tournament greens fee, open use of the driving range, cart for tournament, entrance into the pre-tournament putting contest, one mulligan, a raffle ticket for our variety of prizes, admission to the post-tournament banquet and awards ceremony, and entrance to the 19th Hole Party at Spring Meadows Banquet Center after the awards banquet. All of the above benefits are included in the tournament fee of $125 per person. Entrants are asked to pay up front so we may reserve your - or your team’s - spot in the Golf Classic.

Contests include several "Closest to the Pin" competitions, Longest Drive, Straightest Drive, Hit the Green and Putting competition. Awards will also be given to the winning team as well as the second and third place teams.

All alumni and guests are welcome to join our golfers for an evening of cocktails and a delicious post tournament buffet banquet at the Spring Meadows Clubhouse. Awards will be given during the banquet, which is included in the registration fee for the golfers and costs $25 for non-golfers to attend.

Those attending the Golf Classic are encouraged to remain in the area and join in the celebration of the 2016 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The reception will take place in the Hall of Fame Room, located on the second floor of the Harold Alfond Center, with the ceremony to begin at 6:30 PM in Pearson's Café at Mercy Hall.

The total number of accomplished athletes, teams, coaches, administrators and philanthropists grows to 82 with the addition of the 14th Hall of Fame Class.
