Saint Joseph's SAAC Members Provide Instruction at Windham Primary School

STANDISH, Maine – Members of the Saint Joseph’s College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) volunteered their time to promote physical activity at Windham Primary School on Tuesday, February 23rd and Friday, February 26th.

Led by SAAC Advisor/Senior Women’s Administrator/Asst. Athletic Trainer Tiffany Miller-Gagnon, a total of 14 athletes represented 10 different SJC varsity teams participated in the two-day event. Individuals from the Monks’ men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, cross country, track & field, swimming, softball, women’s basketball, and baseball programs assisted in teaching second and third graders the fundamentals of their respective sports.

With the help of Physical Education Teacher Stacey Turkington, an SJC alum, the athletes divided the students into stations, with each individual receiving approximately five minutes of instruction in a variety of sports, including volleyball, basketball, track & field, softball/baseball, soccer, and lacrosse.

Participating SAAC members included: Scott Benner (soccer), Sarah Comtois (soccer), Elizabeth Elcock (lacrosse), Lucas Fisher (cross country/track & field), Adam Gaulin (swimming), Mariah Harrison (softball), Ben Johnson (swimming), Emily Kehoe (basketball), Mark LaPierre (lacrosse), Hannah Leblanc (soccer), Nic Lops (baseball), Melissa Mayhew (softball), Nick Shuckrow (cross country/track & field), and Connor Trainor (lacrosse).
