Monks Baseball to Host Gordon, Food Drive

STANDISH, ME – The Saint Joseph's College Baseball team will host Gordon College in a fall ball triple-header Saturday, September 25th. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM and the teams will play three six-inning games.

The Monks will also be collecting non-perishable food donations during the event, with all items being donated to Catherine's Cupboard Food Pantry. The day of games will mark the third consecutive fall ball meeting between the New England programs, and both teams have contributed to the worthy cause in each of the three dates.

Saint Joseph's is coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history. The 2010 nine posted a 35-13 (.729) record, captured its second GNAC Championship in three years as a league member, and won three games in the NCAA Tournament last spring. The 2011 team features five returning starters, including GNAC Player of the Year and All-American outfielder Todd Keneborus '11 (Hollis Center, Me/Cheverus) and two-time All-GNAC infielder Chris Campbell '11 (Rochester, NH). The SJC pitching staff returns eight hurlers, with 2010 GNAC Pitcher of the Year Sam Murray '12 (Walpole, MA) expected to lead the group next spring.

Gordon College posted a 16-20 record in 2010 and returns All-TCCC pitchers Robert Hinckley '12 (Raynham, MA) and John Kanas '13 (East Moriches, NY) from a Scots club that notched a program-record for wins.
