Monks Top New England Team in Both National Polls

STANDISH, ME – The NCBWA/D3baseball.com and ABCA/Collegiate Baseball NCAA DIII national polls have been released and Saint Joseph's is ranked in the top 15 in both rankings.

The Monks (7-2, 0-0 GNAC) are ranked ninth in the NCBWA/D3baseball.com poll for the second-consecutive week and sit in the #13 spot in the first ABCA/Collegiate Baseball regular season poll of the 2013 campaign.

With 385 points in the fourth NCBWA/D3baseball rankings of the season, St. Joe's sits ahead of fellow New England Region programs Wheaton College (10) and Western New England University (12). The Monks defeated Wheaton by a 2-1 margin on March 11th.

Other New England teams receiving votes include Eastern Connecticut State University (28 votes), Trinity College (22), Southern Maine (13) and Tufts University (1).

Saint Joseph's received 220 votes in the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball poll and is ranked ahead of several other New England teams, including Wheaton (15), Western New England (16) and Eastern Connecticut (19).

Trinity (38 votes), and Amherst College (1) also garnered votes in the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball rankings.

Both polls agree on the top three DIII teams in the country, as Salisbury University, Trinity (Texas) and Cortland State are ranked 1-2-3 this week.
