Whittaker & Beaudette Claim GNAC Accolades

STANDISH, ME - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and two Saint Joseph's College baseball players have been honored.

Junior righthander Nick Whittaker (Yarmouth, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Pitcher of the Week and freshman outfielder Tim Beaudette (Uxbridge, Mass.) has earned GNAC Rookie of the Week honors. The weekly conference honors are firsts for both players.

Whittaker tossed a one-hitter and fanned four in a complete-game shutout effort versus Roger Williams University on Friday. The junior righthander saw his no-hit bid end when he surrendered a single up the middle with one out in the top of the fourth.

Beaudette worked his way into the Monks' starting lineup over the weekend and hit an even .500 (3-6) with four runs, a double and an RBI last week. He proved to be an on-base machine with a .667 OBP and hopes to be a fixture in the Saint Joseph's outfield as a freshman and beyond.

In three starts this spring, Whittaker has posted a 2.35 ERA with 13 strikeouts and five walks in 15.1 innings. He owns a 2-1 record and opponents are hitting just .189 (10-53) against him so far this season.

Beaudette has played in seven games with four starts as a rookie and is currently hitting .444 (4-9) with two runs, a double and an RBI. He sports a spectacular .643 OBP and has worked three walks and been hit by a pitch twice this spring.

Saint Joseph's (10-5, 1-1 GNAC) will host Emerson College in a conference doubleheader on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 4:15 PM.
