Chase Earns D3Baseball.com Team of the Week Honors

STANDISH, ME - The D3Baseball.com Team of the Week has been released and Saint Joseph's College senior Brandon Chase (Naples, Maine) is this week's honoree at second base.

Chase broke out in a big way in a pair of convincing victories over GNAC-rival Suffolk University on Sunday. In the two games combined, the second baseman went 7-8 with four runs, three doubles, three triples, a home run, five RBI and a stolen base. Chase was 4-4 with a program-record three triples in an opening 12-3 win over the Rams and proceeded to go 3-4 with a pair of two-baggers and a homer in a 7-1 nightcap triumph. For the week, the 2012 First Team All-GNAC selection hit an even .500 (10-20) with six runs and seven RBI with an outstanding 1.100 slugging percentage over six games.

Through 29 games this spring, Chase leads the team in batting average (.389, 34-89), hits (34), doubles (10), triples (3), slugging percentage (.596) and stolen bases (4). He has also scored 16 runs and driven in 19 in 29 starts.

The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its second season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the ninth Team of the Week of the 2013 season.

Saint Joseph's (20-9, 10-2 GNAC) will play at Colby College on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
