McCoomb Named GNAC Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College sophomore shortstop Max McCoomb (South Berwick, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Baseball Player of the Week.

McCoomb hit .600 (9-15) with a .588 OBP and a .800 slugging percentage in five wins for the Monks last week. The sophomore shortstop scored nine runs with three doubles, five RBI and three stolen bases and made just one error in 18 chances to help St. Joe's extend its win streak to 11 contests. McCoomb was 3-5 with three runs, a double and two RBI in a one-sided victory over Bates College on Monday and went 2-3 with a run, a pair of two-baggers and an RBI in a 3-0 triumph over Norwich University on Sunday.

A Second Team All-GNAC infielder as a freshman, McCoomb is currently hitting .339 (20-59) with 14 runs, seven doubles, nine RBI and four stolen bases in 19 games played this spring. The weekly conference honor is the first of McCoomb's career.

Saint Joseph's will travel to Endicott College tomorrow for a non-conference contest starting at 4:00 PM.
