Meehan and Godbout Named GNAC Player, Pitcher of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The sixth Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly report has been released and a pair of Saint Joseph's College baseball players have been honored.

Junior outfielder Dennis Meehan (Gardiner, Maine) and sophomore pitcher Travis Godbout (Portland, Maine) have been selected as the GNAC Corvais Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. The conference weekly honor is a career-first for both players.

Meehan hit .750 (9-12) with six runs, a double, two stolen bases, and two RBI in a 4-1 week for Saint Joseph's. The junior outfielder, who also walked four times, posted an incredible .813 OBP and recorded at least two hits in three of the five contests, including a 3-3, two-RBI performance in a 10-0 victory over Suffolk University on Saturday.

Godbout won a pair of games and did not allow an earned run over nine innings last week. The sophomore right-hander fanned nine batters, including seven in five innings against Rivier University on Sunday, while yielding four hits and two walks over the two appearances.

Meehan, a 2015 Third Team All-GNAC selection, is currently hitting .515 (17-33) with 11 runs, four doubles, one home run, three RBI, and three stolen bases in 14 games this spring. The second-year starter boasts a .727 slugging percentage with a .590 OBP and has not made an error in 19 chances so far this season.

Godbout has emerged into a weekend starter for the Monks this spring and sports a 3.63 ERA with a 2-1 record and 21 strikeouts over 17.1 innings. The sophomore hurler has appeared in six games with three starts through 19 games for Saint Joseph's.

Saint Joseph's (11-8) was scheduled to face Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts this afternoon, but rain has pushed the non-conference contest to tomorrow. First pitch is slated for 4:00 PM.
