STANDISH, Maine – The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) weekly accolades have been announced and Saint Joseph's College junior Dennis Meehan (Gardiner, Maine) and sophomore Travis Godbout (Portland, Maine) have been selected as the ECAC DIII New England Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
Meehan hit .750 (9-12) with six runs, a double, two stolen bases, and a pair of RBI in a 4-1 week for the Monks. The junior right fielder, who also walked four times, posted an outstanding .813 OBP and notched at least two hits in three of the five contests, including a 3-3, two-RBI performance in a 10-0 victory over Suffolk University on Saturday.
Godbout won two games and did not allow an earned run over nine innings last week. The second-year righty fanned nine hitters, including seven in five frames against Rivier University on Sunday, while yielding four hits and two walks over the two appearances.
Meehan, a 2015 Third Team All-GNAC selection, currently leads the team in batting average (.463, 19-41), slugging (.634), and OBP (.532) and has scored 11 runs with four doubles, a home run, three RBI, and three steals over 16 games this spring.
Godbout is 2-1 with a 4.82 ERA and 23 strikeouts in seven appearances – three starts – spanning 18.2 innings this season.
Both players earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) awards earlier this week.
Saint Joseph's (12-9) is set to host Johnson & Wales University tomorrow in a GNAC doubleheaders set to begin at 1:00 PM.
