Black Named GNAC Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has announced weekly honors for the reporting period ending April 24th and junior infielder Taylor Black (Cardiff by the Sea, Calif.) has been selected as the GNAC Corvais Baseball Player of the Week.

Black helped lead the Monks to a 5-0 week by hitting .500 (8-16) with eight runs, three doubles, a triple, a home run, and four RBI. The junior lead-off hitter enjoyed one of the finest days of his collegiate career in a sweep over Albertus Magnus on Sunday when he went 6-7, collectively hitting for the cycle in the two contests with four runs, two doubles, a triple, a round tripper, and three RBI. Black posted an even 1.000 SLG% with a .550 OBP during the five games.

Through 30 games this spring, Black is hitting .341 (29-85) with 27 runs, four doubles, a triple, two home runs, five stolen bases, and 20 RBI. The junior infielder, who has walked 14 times and been hit by pitch on 12 occasions, currently sports a.482 slugging percentage with a .478 OBP. Black leads the GNAC in HBP and ranks third in OBP as of April 25th.

For Black, the GNAC weekly honor is the first of his collegiate career.

Saint Joseph's (20-10, 10-2 GNAC) is scheduled to play at Norwich University Saturday in a GNAC doubleheader scheduled to start at 1:00 PM.
