STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (22-12, 12-2 GNAC) suffered a 19-3 setback at the hands of Endicott College (26-13, 13-3 CCC) in non-conference baseball action at Larry Mahaney Diamond on Tuesday afternoon.
THE LEAD
Endicott assumed control of the contest early, as the Gulls scored five runs off four hits and a Saint Joseph's error in the top of the first. The visitors managed to plate all of their runs over five different innings, with five in the first, three in the third, five in the sixth, and six in the ninth while four relievers combined to hold the Monks hitless over the final five frames.
SJC HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior shortstop Max McCoomb (South Berwick, Maine) was the Monks' lone repeat hitter, having gone 2-4 with a run scored in the loss
- Senior left fielder Taylor Reuillard (Biddeford, Maine) went 1-4 with a double
- Freshman second baseman Joey Murphy (Derry, N.H.) was 1-2 with an RBI
ENDICOTT HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman first baseman Chris Seidl (Dracut, Mass.) went 3-5 with three runs, a double, a home run, and five RBI
- Junior third baseman Mike Kochiss (Fairfield, Conn.) was 2-5 with two runs, two doubles, and four RBI
- Sophomore second baseman Michael DeDonato (Chelmsford, Mass.) scored three runs and knocked in a pair
- Senior right fielder Matthew Paola (Middlebury, Conn.) added two hits, two runs, a double, a stolen base, and three RBI in five at-bats
PITCHERS OF RECORD
- SJC junior starter Nick Malatesta (Wrentham, Mass.) falls to 4-3 on the year after allowing five runs (four earned) off three hits and a walk with one strikeout in 1/3 inning
- The Monks employed a program-record 10 different pitchers (the previous record, eight, was versus Wabash 3/13/03) in the loss, as Grayson Jennings (Bedford, N.H.), Riley Cox (Westford, Mass.), Philip LeVangie (Hanover, Mass.), Steven Albert (Worcester, Mass.), Thomas Fortier (Falmouth, Maine), Marc Poirier (Lunenburg, Mass.), Corey McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.), Patrick Martin (Wilton, N.H.), and Ben Coleman (Williamstown, Mass.) joined Malatesta on the hill
- Endicott freshman reliever Liam Burke (Westwood, Mass.) picked up his first victory of the season after allowing one run off four hits with one punch-out in 2.1 innings
- Endicott starter AJ Hendrickson (Meriden, Conn.) yielded two runs off five hits over 1.2 innings and did not factor into the decision
- Freshman Kevin Gould (Rollinsford, N.H.), freshman Zachary Sultar (South Windsor, Conn.), and junior Victor Molle (Peabody, Mass.), and freshman Will Bryant (Cumberland, Maine) combined to toss five innings of no-hit relief with five strikeouts
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING
With the loss, Saint Joseph's falls to 13-6 all-time versus Endicott College, a team the Monks defeated earlier this season by a 6-2 margin in Beverly, Massachusetts on April 13th.
In the last 34 seasons, Saint Joseph's has suffered 12 losses (in 1,358 games) by 15 or more runs – today's is the first since Southern Maine toppled the Monks by a 21-3 margin on April 16th, 2009.

Saint Joseph's, the top seed in the GNAC Tournament, will host the winner of the #5 Albertus Magnus/#4 Johnson & Wales – a prelim contest to be played tomorrow – on Thursday afternoon.
Endicott, the #2 seed in the CCC Tournament, will host #5 Gordon College in opening round action on Thursday at 4:00 PM.
