Monks Sweep GNAC Weekly Honors

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Baseball weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College has swept the awards.

Senior designated hitter Jameson Collins (Sandown, N.H.), sophomore pitcher Grayson Jennings (Mililani, Hawaii), and freshman outfielder Ben Gravel (Rochester, N.H.) have been selected as the GNAC Hitter, Pitcher, and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Collins enjoyed a huge offensive weekend, as the senior hit .615 with a 1.154 slugging percentage while driving in 10 runs in four victories for the Monks. In a doubleheader sweep over Thomas College on Friday, Collins was 5-7 with eight RBI and connected for a grand slam in the opening 15-7 triumph. He capped the weekend by going 3-4 with two doubles and a triple with a run scored and an RBI in a 14-4 win over Benedictine on Sunday.

Jennings tossed four two-hit shutout innings with four strikeouts in a 7-0 win over Thomas College on Friday.

Gravel connected for his first collegiate hit - a pinch-hit grand slam - in a 20-3 victory over Worcester State on Saturday.

Through 12 games, Collins is hitting .419 (18-43) with 12 runs, five doubles, two triples, a home run, and 20 RBI with a .698 slugging percentage and a .423 OBP. He currently leads the team in RBI and ranks second on the squad in slugging.

Jennings is 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA and five strikeouts in five innings so far this spring. He has allowed two runs off five hits and a pair of walks while holding opponents to a .238 average in a pair of appearances.

Gravel is 1-5 (.200) with a run, a homer, and four RBI in six games during his freshman season.

Field conditions permitting, Saint Joseph's (10-2) will face Gordon College this Wednesday at 3:30 PM.
