In the first NCAA DIII Regional Rankings of the 2017 campaign, Salve Regina (27-5) is listed first, while Wheaton College (22-9), Southern Maine (22-6), UMass.-Boston (21-9), and Saint Joseph's round out the top five New England programs. Saint Joseph's, 26-6 overall through April 27th, has five regular-season games remaining before the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament begins next week. The Monks host Norwich University and play at Anna Maria College in GNAC doubleheaders Friday and Saturday, respectively, and cap the 2017 docket with a home game versus MIT on Monday.

The NCAA Regional Ranking Committee considers a myriad of components, including Win-loss percentage against Division III opponents, strength-of-schedule, Opponents' Average Winning Percentage (OWP), and Opponents' Opponents' Average Winning Percentage (OOWP).
