STANDISH, Maine – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings and New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) regional awards have been released and three Saint Joseph's College standouts have been recognized.
Senior third baseman Taylor Black (Cardiff by the Sea, Calif.) has earned First Team All-New England honors from both organizations while junior reliever Josh Partridge (Deerfield, N.H.) has collected ABCA/Rawlings and NEIBA Second Team accolades and senior designated hitter Jameson Collins (Sandown, N.H.) has claimed a pair of Third Team honors.
Black, who also garnered First Team D3Baseball.com All-New England accolades earlier this week, makes it an All-Region hat trick with the pair of aforementioned accolades. The 2017 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Year and three-time First Team All-GNAC honoree hit .417 (53-127) with 37 runs, 12 doubles, four triples, four home runs, 44 RBI, and four stolen bases this spring. Black paced the conference in batting average, tied for the lead in RBI, and finished second in slugging (.669) and third in OBP (.486) during the 2017 campaign.
A four-year starter, Black posted a .339 (167-492) career batting average with 127 runs, 28 doubles, five triples, eight home runs, 91 RBI, and 24 stolen bases in 155 games. He posted a .465 slugging percentage with a .440 OBP and capped his career as the Monks' all-time hit-by-pitch leader (43).
An excellent student, the Exercise Science major claimed CoSIDA Academic All-District honors earlier this spring and was selected as the Saint Joseph's College Male-Student Athlete of the Year.
Partridge earns a pair of Second Team All-New England nods after posting a 1.61 ERA with a 6-2 record and four saves across 21 appearances during his junior season. The junior southpaw, who garnered D3Baseball.com Third Team All-Region honors earlier this week, fanned 48 batters while allowing just 11 walks and 32 hits in 44.2 innings and held opponents to a .200 (32-160) batting average this spring. A 2017 First Team All-GNAC honoree, Partridge led the conference in ERA, appearances, and saves and ranked third in victories and K/9 (9.67).
Collins, a D3Baseball.com Third Team All-Region selection, adds to his growing list of accolades with ABCA/Rawlings and NEIBA Third Team All-New England awards after hitting .326 (44-135) with 32 runs, nine doubles, eight home runs, and 44 RBI in 38 starts this spring. The senior slugger finished the season tied atop the GNAC RBI leaderboard and ranked second in the conference in home runs and third in total bases (81).
For his career, Collins posted a .286 (95-332) batting average with 57 runs, 16 doubles, 12 home runs, and 86 RBI while slugging .455 with a .352 OBP in 111 games over four seasons. His 2017 home run total is the most by an SJC player in the "BBCOR" bats era and highest tally overall since Pat Moran '10 launched 11 long balls in 2009.
