Johnson Collects Second NAC Weekly Honor

STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's College junior goalkeeper Meaghan Johnson (Portland, ME/Cheverus) has been named as the NAC Field Hockey Co-Player of the Week.

Johnson made a career-high 20 saves in a 3-2 victory over Castleton State on Sunday, October 3rd. The result against the Spartans, which was the Monks' only game last week, increased the team's 2010 in-league record to 3-0. Johnson, who also received NAC Player of the Week honors  on September 20th, shares the conference high-honor with University of Maine-Farmington junior midfielder Sara Lane (Hiram, ME)

Johnson, a team tri-captain as a junior, is enjoying her finest season to date. Through eight games this season, she leads the NAC in goals against average (1.17) and save percentage (.892) and has posted 74 stops with nine goals allowed in 540 minutes in net.

She is the Monks' all-time leader in victories (32), goals against average (1.32) and is tied for the team's record for career shutouts with 10 goose-egg efforts. She also ranks second in goalkeeper games (45) and minutes (3121) and third in save percentage with a .813 career mark.

Johnson also owns the program's single-season records for games (19), minutes (1298), wins (13, 2x), shutouts (5) and goals against average (1.29). She has started 33 consecutive games in net for the Monks.
