Johnson Tabbed as ECAC Defensive Player of the Week

STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's Field Hockey junior netminder Meaghan Johnson (Portland, ME/Cheverus) has been selected as the ECAC DIII New England Region Defensive Player of the Week.

Johnson registered a career-high 20 stops in an important 3-2 victory over North Atlantic Conference rival Castleton State College on Sunday, October 3rd. She also garnered NAC Co-Player of the Week honors after her performance in the Monks' only game of the reporting period.

Johnson is the first SJC Field Hockey player to earn an ECAC weekly regional honor.

Through eight games this fall she has a 1.17 goals against average and a .892 save percentage with 74 saves and nine goals allowed in 540 minutes of play.  She currently leads the NAC in GAA and save percentage and, as of October 3rd, ranked fifth in all of NCAA DIII Field Hockey in save percentage.

 Johnson is the Monks' all-time leader in victories (32), goals against average (1.32) and is tied for the team's record for career shutouts with 10. She also ranks second in goalkeeper games (45) and minutes (3121) and third in save percentage with a .813 career mark.

Johnson also owns the program's single-season records for games (19), minutes (1298), wins (13, 2x), shutouts (5) and goals against average (1.29). She has started 33 consecutive games in net with 16 straight complete games, which totals 1,209 minutes between the pipes.

St. Joe's will host Colby College on Wednesday (7:00 PM) at Deering Memorial Stadium in Portland.
