Nowell Claims Program Points Record

STANDISH, ME – Kayla Nowell '11 (Bridgton, ME) became the Saint Joseph's Field Hockey all-time points leader when she netted a 23rd-minute goal in a loss to Endicott College at Lakeside Field on Wednesday afternoon.

With the goal, Nowell surpasses Julia Ostrowski '10, who tallied 131 points (46 goals, 39 assists) in 73 career games. Nowell has scored 133 points, with 52 goals and 29 assists, in 70 games over three-plus seasons.

Nowell now owns or shares 14 program records. The senior forward is the SJC career leader in goals, points, game-winning goals (11) and shots (318) and holds six single-season marks, all of which were set during a remarkable 2008 campaign when she notched 21 goals, 15 assists, 57 points and five game-winners.

Nowell also possesses four single-game records, including most points (9, vs. Bay Bath, 9/7/09) and shots (15, vs. Anna Maria, 9/14/08).

She has been recognized at both the conference and regional level with a pair of First Team All-NAC honors and two Second Team All-NFHCA accolades during her time at St. Joe's.

St. Joe's will face off against conference-rival Thomas College in Waterville, Maine on Saturday at 11:00 AM.
