STANDISH, ME – Kayla Nowell '11 (Bridgton, ME) and Courtney Rague '11 (Old Orchard Beach, ME) tallied three goals and an assist apiece for Saint Joseph's (12-4, 7-0 NAC) in an 8-1 victory over Rivier College (1-14, 0-7 NAC) at Lakeside Field on Sunday afternoon.

With the victory, St. Joe's officially collects the top seed in the upcoming North Atlantic Conference Tournament, which begins next Saturday with a quarterfinal round. The Monks, which receive a first-round bye as one of the top two seeds in the six-team tourney, have now won 18 consecutive regular-season conference contests dating back to the middle of the 2008 campaign.

Aside from the advantage in shots, St. Joe's also posted an 11-2 lead in penalty corners in the win and improved to 2-0 against Rivier College in the history of the series.

Meaghan Johnson '12 (Portland, ME/Cheverus), making her 41st consecutive start in net for the Monks, made one save in 35 minutes of play. Jackie Goodell '14 (Lebanon, NH), who entered the game to begin the second half, made two stops and allowed the lone Rivier goal – a tally by Ashley Ruocco '13 (East Kingston, NH) off a Tristina Douillette '14 (Webster, NH) in the 54th minute.

Raiders goalkeeper Meghan Stephen '14 (Pelham, NH) made 11 saves in a losing effort.

Prior to the opening whistle, St. Joe's paid tribute to seniors Alyssa Dunn, Kayla Nowell and Courtney Rague. The trio has helped lead the Monks to a 54-21 (.720) record as members of the field hockey program.

The Monks will close out the regular season with a non-league game at Plymouth State on Tuesday at 3:30 PM.
