Cowin Selected as ECAC Offensive Player of the Week

STANDISH, ME - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced that Saint Joseph's field hockey sophomore TJ Cowin (Newry, Maine/Telstar) has been selected as the New England Offensive Player of the Week for the reporting period ending September 11th.

In her first contest donning a Monks' uniform Cowin was responsible for all three SJC goals in a victory over Anna Maria College on September 5th. Not slowing down at all, she continued to perform by scoring the game-winner in a 2-1 overtime victory against Kean University five days later.

Cowin, the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Player of the Week for the same reporting period, is the second Saint Joseph's field hockey player to garner ECAC weekly honors. Senior goalkeeper Meaghan Johnson (Portland, Maine/Cheverus), the ECAC Defensive Player of the Week on October 4th, 2010, was the first Monks sticker to earn the weekly regional accolade.

Saint Joseph's will host in-state rival University of New England this afternoon at 3:00 PM.
