Johnson Invited to Participate in NFHCA Senior Game

STANDISH, ME - The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) has announced the rosters for the 2011 NFHCA Division III Senior Game and Saint Josephs' College goalkeeper Meaghan Johnson (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) has made the cut.

Johnson, a 2010 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) First Team selection, sports an .874 save percentage and a 1.03 goals against average - marks that rank third and 15th in NCAA DIII, respectively - this fall. She has started all 17 games for the 12-5 Monks with five shutouts and 18 goals allowed in 1222 minutes between the pipes.

The four-year starter currently owns the SJC career records for goalkeeper games (72), minutes (4995), wins (51), shutouts (16) and goals against average (1.26). She also sits atop the Monks' all-time single-season leaderboard in games, minutes, wins, shutouts, goals against average and save percentage.

Johnson is the first player in Saint Joseph's College field hockey history to receive an invitation to play in this prestigious exhibition contest, which will be played at Nichols College in Dudley, Mass. on Saturday, November 19th at 5:30 PM. She is also the only player from a NAC institution listed on the roster and one of two athletes - University of New England senior Michelle Oswald being the other - hailing from a Maine college or university.

This year's Senior Game will feature three teams facing off against each other in a series of 25-minute periods.
