Six SJC Field Hockey Players Earn Academic Honors

STANDISH, ME - The 2012 Gladiator by SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Squad has been released and six Saint Joseph's College players have been honored for their efforts in the classroom.

Junior Rachelle Messuri (Atkinson, N.H.) has been honored for the third time in as many seasons while Melanie Allen (Jackson, N.H.), Carley Denis (Lewiston, Maine), Theresa Hendrix (Scarborough, Maine/Cheverus), Brittany Locke (Waterville, Maine) and Kayla Royer (Greene, Maine) have received NFHCA academic accolades for the first time.

In order to receive the Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad honor, players must post a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year.

In addition Messuri, a Marketing major at Saint Joseph's, earned Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction accolades after recording a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year. The junior forward is one of six North Atlantic Conference (NAC) field hockey players to claim the high academic award.
