Field Hockey Sweeps NAC Weekly Awards

STANDISH, ME – The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) weekly accolades have been released and a pair of Saint Joseph's College players have been honored.

Junior forward Effie Drew (Portland, Maine/Portland) has been selected as the NAC Player of the Week and freshman goalkeeper Emma Astbury (Woodstock, Vt.) has earned NAC Rookie of the Week honors.

Drew played a hand in all three of the Monks' goals in a 3-1 conference victory over Simmons College on Saturday. The junior transfer scored twice and was credited with an assist on the team's third goal of the afternoon in the NAC opener.

Through four games, Drew leads the Monks in goals (5) and points (12) and is tied for second on the squad in assists. She has been chosen as the player of the week in two of the four NAC reporting periods so far this fall.

Astbury was outstanding in the win over the Sharks on Saturday. The freshman keeper tallied a season-high six saves in the conference-opener and sports a 0.61 goals against average through four games this fall.

Astbury also sports an .846 save percentage with 11 saves and just two goals allowed over 276:40 minutes and four starts this season. The weekly accolade is the first of her young career.

Saint Joseph's (4-0, 1-0 NAC) will host Rivier University this Saturday at 12:00 PM.
