Parent Named ECAC DIII New England Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Corvias ECAC Field Hockey Players of the Week for the reporting period ending September 13th and Saint Joseph's College freshman forward Michalia Parent (Westborough, Mass.) has been named as the ECAC DIII New England Rookie of the Week.

Parent scored a goal in all three of the Monks' games last week with a pair of game-winners and an assist for seven total points. The freshman forward registered a goal and an assist in a victory over New England College on Wednesday, and slammed home the game-winner versus Mount Ida on Saturday.

Parent was also selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week on Monday. She is the first Saint Joseph's field hockey player to earn ECAC Rookie of the Week honors and the fourth to receive an ECAC weekly award. Meaghan Johnson '12, TJ Cowin and Theresa Hendrix '14 precede her on the short list.

The freshman forward is currently tied for the team-lead in goals (3) and ranks second on the squad in total points (7), shots (19) and shots on goal (17).

Saint Joseph's will host Rivier University in a GNAC contest slated to begin at 12:00 PM on Saturday.
