Baker Tabbed as GNAC Goalkeeper & Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman Megan Baker (Gorham, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Field Hockey Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week.

Baker did not allow a goal in two games with 158:57 of shutout play last week. The freshman keeper made five stops in a thrilling double-overtime victory at Gordon College on Monday and stopped the only shot she faced in a key 2-0 win over Lasell College on Saturday.

In 11 games this fall, Baker owns a 0.71 goals against average with a 9-2 record and five shutouts. The freshman netminder has made 30 saves with just eight goals allowed with a.789 save percentage in nearly 789 minutes between the pipes. The weekly conference honors are the first of her collegiate career.

Baker currently leads the GNAC in goals against average, fewest goals allowed and shutouts and ranks second in the conference in victories. Her save percentage is the third-best in the league.

Saint Joseph's (10-4, 5-1 GNAC) will host University of Maine-Farmington this afternoon at 3:00 PM.
