Williams Claims ECAC All-New England Honors

STANDISH, Maine – The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Field Hockey postseason accolades have been released and Saint Joseph's College senior defender Meghan Williams (Greenland, N.H./St. Thomas Aquinas) has earned ECAC DIII New England First Team honors.

Williams, who claimed First Team All-Conference honors for the second-consecutive season this fall, scored four goals with a team-high 11 assists for 15 total points as a senior. The two-year team captain played several roles during the season and netted all four of her goals on penalty stroke attempts with two defensive saves in 2015.

The first Saint Joseph's field hockey player to collect ECAC honors, Williams closed out her collegiate career having played in 71 games with 10 goals and 19 assists for 39 total points. She helped the Monks post a 51-22 (.699) cumulative record with a 23-7 (.767) conference mark over the last four years.

Williams is one of just two Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) players to earn ECAC accolades as she joins Anna Maria senior midfielder Kayla Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) on the First Team.

Saint Joseph's posted a 13-7 overall record with a 5-1 mark in GNAC play under the watch of 11th-year Head Coach Rupert Lewis this fall. The Monks earned the #2 seed, and first-round bye, in the conference tournament and topped #3 Anna Maria College, 3-1, in a GNAC quarterfinal on November 4th. With the victory, Saint Joseph's advanced to the GNAC Championship versus top-seeded Simmons College and suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the reigning conference champs on November 7th.
