Score: Saint Joseph's 1, UMass Dartmouth 0

Records: Saint Joseph's 7-5 | UMass Dartmouth 4-10

How it Happened

The squads maintained even possession throughout the first half, with both defenses preventing much action in either circle. UMass Dartmouth senior Elizabeth St. Germaine (Wareham, Mass.) was able to connect for two deep chances off a Hunter Carden (Branford, Conn.) penalty corner early in the action, but neither reached goal. Junior Erin Kish (Littleton, Mass.) forced the lone first-period save by Monk goalkeeper Megan Baker (Gorham, Maine) later in half.

Saint Joseph's found its offensive stride in the second half, striking for all eight of its shots to UMass Dartmouth's two. Corsair netminder Sam Brun (Dighton, Mass.) registered four saves and junior defender Haley Donahay (Cranston, R.I.) stopped a back-door look by Monk Libby Pomerleau (Limerick, Maine) to keep the scoreboard empty.

In the 64th minute, the Monks found the luck they needed, when Elyse Caiazzo (Scarborough, Maine) collected the rebound from a Pomerleau shot, putting enough fire on the ball to deflect off Carden's stick and into the net.

Inside the Numbers

  • All three of Caiazzo's shots reached net on the contest, and her goal marked her first of the season.
  • Brun finished with four stops in her fifth goalkeeping decision of the season, and Baker registered two saves.
