Field Hockey Recruiting Class of 2021 Released

Field Hockey Recruiting Class of 2021 Released

STANDISH, Maine – Head Coach Rupert Lewis has announced the field hockey recruiting class of 2021.

Lewis, who will begin his 13th year as the SJC clipboard carrier this fall, led his program to a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, an NCAA Tournament berth, and a national tourney victory – all program firsts – last season.

His incoming class, which includes 11 players at various positions, will bring speed and athleticism, as well as much-needed depth, to a team that graduated just one senior – three-time All-Conference honoree Kelsey Dumond – and went 13-6 overall with a 5-1 record in conference play a year ago.

With a 1-0 GNAC Championship victory over Simmons College, the Monks earned an automatic berth into the NCAA DIII Tournament. The Monks opened national tourney play with a 1-0 win at #10 Montclair State University on November 9th before falling to #11 Skidmore College in a Sweet 16 matchup three days later.

"I'm very excited about our new turf field and the quality of the 2021 class," adds Coach Lewis. "I feel this class will bring depth and quality to our program and help establish our team as one of the best in our region."
