Baker Tabbed as GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been released and Saint Joseph's College junior Megan Baker (Gorham, Maine) has been named as the GNAC Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week.

Baker, the 2016 GNAC Goalkeeper of the Year and First Team All-GNAC honoree, was tremendous in a 2-1 double-overtime loss on the road at Husson on Wednesday, with a career-high 19 saves in the non-conference setback. On the week, she stopped 23 of 29 shots for a .793 save percentage in three games spanning over 200 minutes.

Through September 18th, Baker leads the conference in shutouts (2), ranks second in save percentage (.784), and third in goals-against average (1.64) and minutes (342:13).

For Baker, the GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week honor is the fourth of her career. She also claimed the award on October 19th, 2015, October 10th, 2016, and October 17th, 2016.

Saint Joseph's (2-3, 2-0 GNAC) will host Springfield College Wednesday in a non-conference contest slated to begin at 4:00 PM.
