SALEM, MASS. -- Saint Joseph's scored four first half goals and the Monks' defense did the rest, shutting out Salem State 4-0 in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at Alumni Field. Saint Joseph's, which has won nine of its past ten games, improves to 11-4 on the season. Salem State goes to 2-12.

Saint Joseph's received goals from four different players in building a 4-0 halftime advantage. Kayla Kelly (York, Maine) put home a loose ball past keeper Gabriella Cerro (Beverly, Mass.) for the game's first score just 4:56 into the half. Arianna Kahler (Lisbon Falls, Maine) connected from five yards out before Alexandra Belaire (Greene, Maine) made it 3-0 at the 21:04 mark. Libby Pomerleau (Limerick, Maine ) made it a four-goal lead as she knocked in her team-leading 15th goal of the year with 10:27 remaining before halftime.

Saint Joseph's dominated play early, taking 12 shots (eight on goal) while preventing the Vikings from attempting a shot. The Monks finished the game with a 19-0 advantage in shots while taking 15 corners to just one for the Vikings.

Megan Baker (Gorham, Maine) earned the win without making a save. Alexandria Simpson (Pascoag, R.I.) finished the game in net for the Monks after halftime and did not face a shot. Cerro made nine saves for Salem State before being lifted in the final 10 minutes for Victoria Kako (Salem, Mass.), who made two saves.
