NASHUA, N.H. – Saint Joseph's College (14-1, 6-0 GNAC) defeated Rivier University (2-10, 0-6 GNAC), 3-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey contest on Tuesday evening.

THE LEAD

The Monks maintained possession for most of the game but did not find the back of the net until the 33:20 mark when senior Kayla Kelly (York, Maine) scored off an Emma Rutledge (Alfred, Maine). Just under 90 seconds later, senior Arianna Kahler (Lisbon Falls, Maine) scored on a penalty stroke to make it a 2-0 game heading into intermission.

St. Joe's capped the game scoring in the 61st minute when Rutledge netted her 12th goal of the season.

THE KEEPERS

Saint Joseph's senior Megan Baker (Gorham, Maine) turned away a pair of shots to improve to 14-1 on the season while Rivier netminder Emily Foster made nine saves in the losing effort.

TEAM STATS

Saint Joseph's held considerable advantages in shots (28-6), shots on goal (12-2), and penalty corners (15-3) on the evening.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING

Saint Joseph's is now 10-0 in the history of the series with Rivier University and has outscored the Raiders by a 56-5 margin in the 10 meetings combined. The Monks have not allowed a goal to Rivier in six-consecutive contests dating back to the 2013 season.
