FARMINGTON, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (15-1) defeated UMaine-Farmington (1-12), 2-1, in a non-conference field hockey contest on Saturday afternoon.
THE LEAD
Senior Kayla Veilleux (Sabattus, Maine) and junior Libby Pomerleau (Limerick, Maine) both scored in a defensive struggle to lift the Monks past the Beavers and extend their team's winning streak to eight games.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Veilleux netted her eighth goal of the season – off an Emma Rutledge (Alfred, Maine) pass – in the seventh minute, but the Beavers received a tally from Emma Martineau to knot the game at 1-1 just over 10 minutes later.
The stalemate remained until the 43:35 mark when Pomerleau scored her 15th of the year and 20th game-winner of her career.
THE KEEPERS
Saint Joseph's senior Megan Baker (Gorham, Maine) made five saves in the victory while UMF netminder Grace DiMarco totaled four saves in the losing effort.

Saint Joseph's held the advantage in shots (10-6) and penalty corners (9-6) on the afternoon.
