STANDISH, Maine – Sophomore Emma Rutledge (Alfred, Maine) scored 4:31 into overtime to lift Saint Joseph's College (15-3) past Plymouth State University (7-9), 1-0, in a non-conference field hockey contest at the SJC Athletics Complex on Monday evening.

The Monks maintained possession for the better part of the game and outshot the Panthers by a 23-1 margin, but were unable to solve Plymouth State junior keeper Jess Distler (Brookfield, N.H.) until midway through the extra frame.

Saint Joseph's had several close opportunities to break the deadlock during regulation, as senior Maddy Beaulieu (West Gardiner, Maine) and freshman Sophie Jacques (Peru, Maine) both drilled shots off the post in the third quarter.

The Monks split time in goal, as junior Alexandria Simpson (Pascoag, R.I.) did not face a shot in the first half and sophomore Isabelle Anton (Mount Vernon, N.H.) made one save in 34:31 minutes to earn her first career victory.

Distler made 11 saves in the Panthers' losing effort.

Overall, St. Joe's held the lead in shots (23-1), shots on goal (13-1), and penalty corners (10-0) on the evening.

The Monks are now 7-4 all-time versus Plymouth State University and have defeated the Panthers in three-consecutive meetings for the first time in the history of the matchup.

Saint Joseph's closes out the regular season on Wednesday with a 3:30 PM GNAC contest at Colby-Sawyer College.
