Monks Earn Top Seed in 2019 GNAC Tournament

WINTHROP, Mass. – While Saint Joseph's College of Maine and Lasell University have earned opening-round byes, Simmons University and Anna Maria College are set to host 2019 GNAC Field Hockey Tournament contests on Saturday, November 2. Both first-round contests are scheduled for 11AM, as Simmons will host sixth-seeded Johnson & Wales University and Anna Maria welcomes fifth-seeded Regis College.

Lasell avoided an ultimate five-way tiebreak with its 2-0 regular-season finale victory at home over Simmons on Wednesday afternoon to cement the No. 2 seed.

Also, on Wednesday as the GNAC regular season came to a close, Regis topped JWU on the road, 4-2, and Anna Maria defeated Rivier University at home, 2-1, which led to the five-way tie with a 4-4 overall mark in GNAC play. The Sharks came out on top due to head-to-head performance amongst the tied teams.
