Monks Finish 10th in Bowdoin Invitational

BRUNSWICK, ME – The Saint Joseph's College golf team placed 10th with a 670 team card in the 36-hole Bowdoin College Invitational at the Brunswick Golf Club on Sunday. Senior Kevin Richardson (Coventry, Conn.) paced the Monks with a 158 (81-77) card and finished in a tie for ninth overall in the two-day event.

Middlebury College claimed team honors with a 605 (306-299) tally as all five of the Panthers' golfers handed in cards with scores of 159 or lower, including three linkers who placed in the top six. Husson University finished as the runner-up with a 616 team card while Southern Maine (633), Endicott College (634) and Williams College (637) rounded out the top five teams.

Southern Maine's Tom Murray captured medalist honors with a 148 (71-77) score, one stroke ahead of Greg Pike of Husson and Middlebury's Rob Donahoe who both finished the two-day tourney with a 149 card.

For Saint Joseph's, freshman Michael Caron (Gorham, Maine) shot a 170 (84-86), senior Colin Finn (North Easton, Mass.) notched a 170 (86-84), sophomore Ryan Berard (Millville, Mass.) posted a 172 (87-85) and junior David Kapelson (Litchfield, N.H.) added a 191 (89-92) card.

Saint Joseph's will play in the Maine-Farmington Invitational at the Sunday River Golf Club on Thursday. Opening tee time is set for 10:00 AM.
