Golf Places Sixth at UNE Invitational

KENNEBUNKPORT, ME – The Saint Joseph's College golf team finished in sixth place with a 350 team card in the University of New England Invitational at Cape Arundel Golf Club on Tuesday.

Senior Kevin Richardson (Coventry, Conn.) and freshman Michael Caron (Gorham, Maine) both recorded 84 cards to pace the Monks while senior Colin Finn (North Easton, Mass.) shot an 89 and sophomore Ryan Berard (Millville, Mass.) posted a 93 in the annual event.

Endicott College took top-team honors with a 305 score, six strokes ahead of University of Southern Maine, which won the tourney last fall with a 319 card. UNE placed third (322), Maine Maritime Academy was fourth (333), Roger Williams University (339) finished fifth and St. Joe's rounded out the six-team field with a 350 card.

Endicott's Austin Teal earned medalist honors with a 72 score while Aidan Boyce (USM) and Nate Roop (MMA) finished three strokes off the pace to share runner-up honors.

Saint Joseph's will next compete in the two-day University of Southern Maine Fall Classic, which begins on Sunday at the Gorham Country Club.
