STANDISH, Maine – The first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly golf honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College sophomore Michael Caron (Gorham, Maine) has been tabbed as the GNAC Co-Player of the Week.
Caron placed seventh with a 151 (79-72) card in the Bowdoin College Invitational over the weekend. The sophomore shaved seven strokes in the second round, an effort that helped the Monks move up one slot in the tourney standings.
For Caron, a three-time GNAC Rookie of the Week honoree as a freshman last fall, the conference top player accolade is the first of his career. He shares this week's award with Worcester State University senior David Rixham (Northbridge, Mass.), who shot a 151 in the Bell Detrick Trinity Invitational over the weekend.
The Monks return to the links on Thursday with an appearance in the Maine-Farmington Invitational at Sunday Rivier Golf Club in Newry, Maine.
