Caron Named ECAC DIII Co-Golfer of the Month

STANDISH, Maine – The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) monthly golf honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College sophomore Michael Caron (Gorham, Maine) has been tabbed as the NCAA DIII Co-Golfer of the Month.

Caron, who shares the high honor with RPI junior Jamie Jackson (Belfast, Maine), is the first player in the history of the Saint Joseph's College golf program to earn the ECAC monthly award.

In seven events so far this fall, Caron has not placed lower than seventh with four medalist honors to his credit. The sophomore standout opened the season with a third place finish in the USM Dual at Gorham Country Club on August 29th, won the Maine-Farmington Invitational (75) at Sunday River Golf Club on September 11th, and placed fourth in the Maine Intercollegiate Championship (71-76) at Bangor Municipal Golf Course on September 13th and 14th.

Caron closed out the month with top finishes in the Thomas College Classic (71) at Waterville Country Club on September 21st, the John Queenan Memorial (72) at Point Sebago Golf Resort on September 23rd and the UNE Invitational (70) at Cape Arundel Golf Club on September 30th.

Caron collects the ECAC award after being selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week honor in each of the first four reporting periods of the 2014 season.

Jackson earns Co-Golfer of the Month accolades after posting medalist honors for three consecutive weeks, including a first place finish at the Liberty League Fall Qualifier.

Saint Joseph's resumes play in the two-day University of Southern Maine Fall Classic at Gorham Country Club this Friday and Saturday.
