Monks Atop Leaderboard Through 18 at Husson Invite

BANGOR, Maine – Saint Joseph's College is in the lead through 18 holes with a 299 team card in the 2015 Husson University Invitational, which is being played at Bangor Municipal Golf Course.

Led by 74 scores from junior Michael Caron (Gorham, Maine) and Cam Letourneau (Hebron, Maine), the Monks sit one stroke ahead of Husson after the first day of the two-day event.

For the Monks, freshman Adam Hachey (Winthrop, Maine) sports a 75 score, freshman Adam Batchelder (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) recovered from a 44 on the front nine by posting an impressive 32 on the back for a 76 card, and senior Ryan Berard (Millville, Mass.) chimed in with a 78 score.

Husson's Greg Martin is in position to claim medalist honors with a two-under 67 card after 18 holes.

After day one, Bowdoin College is in third (307), University of New England is fourth (308) and Castleton State College sits in fifth place (309). Southern Maine (310), Bates College (314), Maine Maritime Academy (315), Maine-Farmington (336), Colby College (344), Thomas College (354) and Maine-Presque Isle (354) round out the group of competing programs.

Sunday's tee time is scheduled for 9:06 AM.
