GORHAM, Maine – Saint Joseph's College leads the field with a 295 score through the first 18 holes of the USM Fall Classic, which concludes with the final round at Gorham Country Club on Monday. Junior Michael Caron (Gorham, Maine) ranks as the top individual with a three-under-par 69 after the first day.

The Monks' 295 card through 18 holes is tied – with the 2004 team that won the Maine State Championship with the same score - for the program's lowest round score in the last 16 seasons.

For Caron, the 69 score counts as the best round of his esteemed collegiate career. Previously, the junior standout had posted four rounds of 72 or lower with a 70 at the 2014 UNE Invitational being his previous career low.

The Monks are currently four strokes ahead of Southern Maine, while UMass.-Dartmouth (316), University of New England (326), Bowdoin College (327), Nichols College (332) and Emmanuel College (336) are also competing in the 2015 USM Fall Classic.

For the Monks, freshman Adam Hachey (Winthrop, Maine) posted a 74 card, first-year Cam Letourneau (Hebron, Maine) notched a 75, senior Ryan Berard (Millville, Mass.) added a 77, and senior Jason Riley (Dedham, Mass.) recorded an 82 score over the first 18 holes.
