AUBURN, Maine – Saint Joseph's College finished seventh with a 645 (318-327) team score in the 2017 Maine Intercollegiate Golf Association (MEIGA) Championship, hosted at the Martindale Country Club on Saturday and Sunday.

Sophomore Brandon Donovan (Auburn, Maine) paced the Monks with a 153 (74-79) card and finished in a tie for ninth overall. Junior Cam Letourneau (Hebron, Maine) shot a 162 (78-84) and tied for 24th, junior Adam Batchelder (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) tied for 26th with a 163 (87-76), junior Adam Hachey (Winthrop, Maine) posted a 168 (80-88) and finished 38th, and senior Brandon Lebrecque (Gorham, Maine) tied for 47th (174, 86-88).

For the 12th time since 1999, Husson University claimed the State Championship as the Eagles cruised to the title with a 591 (289-302) card, 39 strokes ahead of runner-up Bates College (630, 309-321). With four players in the top seven, including Medalist Gavin Dugas (142, 68-74), Husson posted the lowest team score in the State Championship in the last 18 years.

Colby College (631, 323-308), Bowdoin College (635, 326-309), Southern Maine (638, 313, 325), Maine Maritime (644, 335-309), UMaine-Farmington (647, 325-322), University of New England (649, 329-320), and Thomas (662, 329-333) rounded out the group of competing institutions.

Saint Joseph's will play in the Husson Invitational at Bangor Municipal next Saturday and Sunday.
