GORHAM, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College golf team kicked off the 2018 season by finishing second with a 317 team card in a tri-match with University of Southern Maine and University of Maine-Farmington at the Gorham Country Club on Friday.
Senior Cam Letourneau (Hebron, Maine) paced the Monks with a 74 card, three strokes over par, and finished second overall while fellow senior Adam Hachey (Winthrop, Maine) was fourth with a 77 score, junior Brendan Donovan (Auburn, Maine) tied for seventh with an 80 card. Junior Tyler Johnson (Windham, Maine) posted an 86 (12th) and sophomore Brian Maguire (Braintree, Mass.) notched an 89 to round out the top five SJC participants.
Noah Estey (Raymond, Maine) (92), Stephen Guaragna (Weymouth, Mass.) (100), Aidan Lewis (Milton, Mass.) (100), and Sean Peschier (Watertown, Mass.) (45 on the front nine) also competed as individuals in the first event of the season.
With the help of Medalist Greg Kalagias (71), Southern Maine won the event with a 312 team card while UMaine-Farmington placed third with a 318 aggregate score.
Saint Joseph's returns to action Tuesday when the team hosts the 16th Annual John Queenan Memorial Tournament at the Point Sebago Golf Resort.
