BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College golf team placed seventh with a 623 (309-314) in the 36-hole Bowdoin College Invitational at the Brunswick Country Club over the weekend.
For the Monks, the 623-team card is the lowest score they have ever posted at the Bowdoin Invitational. Previously, the team's lowest score in 13 appearances was 639 (2005, 2016); the Monks shot a 655 and finished eighth in the event last fall.
Saint Joseph's senior Cam Letourneau (Hebron, Maine) led the Monks and finished in a four-way tie for second overall with a 149 (71-78) card, his best score since posting a 148 in the 2016 Maine State Championship. His day one 71 (-1) card was the third below par round of his career and first this season.
Senior Adam Hachey (Winthrop, Maine) also faired well with a 151 (75-76) score and was tied for 10th overall while senior Adam Batchelder (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) finished in a tie for 14th with a 153 (78-75) card.
Junior Brendan Donovan (Auburn, Maine) shot a 170 (85-85) and tied for 47th and junior Tyler Johnson (Windham, Maine) finished 49th with a 172 (87-85) score.
Southern Maine's Tristan Dundas topped the 50-player field with an even-par 144 (72-72) and Saint Anselm College claimed the team title with a 603 (303-300) score, three strokes ahead of Providence College (309-297).
Saint Joseph's returns to the course Tuesday with an appearance in the Thomas College Invitational at the Waterville Country Club.
