GORHAM, Maine – Saint Joseph's College placed fifth with a 642 team score in the USM Fall Classic at the Gorham Country Club on Sunday and Monday.
Featuring three of the top four finishers overall, Southern Maine won the annual event with a 597 (303-294) team card, well ahead of runner-up Castleton University (615, 322-293) and third-place University of New England (631, 306-325).
USM senior Tristan Dundas (Abbotsford, B.C.) carded a 1-under par 70 on Monday to take low medalist honors while senior Parker Sanderson (Bangor, Maine) finished third with a 149, and classmate Greg Kalagias (Saco, Maine) was fourth with a 150 card.
For the Monks, freshman Trevor Flanagan (Monmouth, Maine) finished in a tie for eighth with a 152 (74-78) score, freshmen Cody Rizzo (West Gardiner, Maine) and Sean McDonough (Concord, N.H.) tied for 22nd (164, 80-84), senior Brendan Donovan (Auburn, Maine) placed 25th (165, 85-80), and senior Tyler Johnson (Windham, Maine) was 28th (172, 91-81).
Saint Joseph's will host the 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship at the Biddeford-Saco Country Club this coming Saturday and Sunday. The winner of the conference crown earns an automatic berth into the NCAA DIII Championship, which will be played in the spring.
