STANDISH, ME - Defending GNAC Champion Saint Joseph's College has been picked to finish third in the conference this coming season, according to a preseason poll voted upon by the GNAC Men's Basketball head coaches.
One point separated the top two teams in the Great Northeast
Athletic Conference Preseason Men's Basketball Coaches Poll with
the Falcons of Albertus Magnus being tabbed as the favorite to win
the GNAC.
The Falcons, which tallied 64 points, are coming off a 2008-09
regular season in which they finished seventh in the GNAC with a
9-9 record and 14-13 record overall, while advancing to the
conference semifinals.
Emerson earned the No. 2 spot in the coaches' poll after advancing
to the 2008-09 GNAC quarterfinals, falling to Albertus Magnus,
78-50.
Rounding out the coaches' poll, Saint Joseph's was tabbed as
the No. 3 selection. Emmanuel and Johnson & Wales round out the
top five, while Rivier edged Norwich for the sixth spot. Lasell,
Mount Ida and Suffolk rounded out the poll in the No. 8, No. 9, and
No. 10 spots, respectively.
The Monks, 21-8 overall and 12-6 in GNAC play last season, will kick off the 2010 campaign with a home game against University of New England on Sunday, November 15th at 3:00 PM.
