Petzy Named GNAC Sportsman of the Year

STANDISH, ME - St. Joe's Men's Basketball junior guard Chris Petzy (Kensington, NH) was named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Male Sportsman of the year in mid-August.

Petzy, an outstanding student who was selected by his teammates a co-captain for  the upcoming season, receives the high conference honor for consistently displaying the tenets of sportsmanship on and off the court.

Petzy was honored during the GNAC Professional Development Seminar at the Doubletree Suites Hotel in Boston on August 12th. He was awarded with a plaque and was received with applause from the crowd, which included various staff members from all 13 GNAC institutions.

As a sophomore, Petzy led the Monks in free-throw percentage (78.5%) and three-point efficiency (43.6%) and ranked third on the squad with a 13.7 PPG average.
