Petzy & Jobin Honored, Monks Ranked Second in Maine

STANDISH, ME – The Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association weekly report has been released and two Saint Joseph's players have garnered honor roll mention.

Junior guard Chris Petzy (Kensington, NH) and freshman forward Nicholas Jobin (Westbrook, ME) have been listed on the MMBCWA Weekly Honor Roll for their efforts in a 1-1 week for the Monks.

Saint Joseph's is ranked second in the MMBCWA Weekly Poll for the second consecutive week. The Monks collected 35 points and two first-place votes and sit behind Bates College (5-1), which earned 43 points and seven first-place nods.

Southern Maine (30 pts), Husson (26 pts) and Bowdoin (13 pts) round out the top five Maine NCAA DIII institutions in the poll, which is voted upon on a weekly basis by head coaches across the state.

Petzy shot 85% (11-13) from the FT line and 53 (10-19) from the floor in a 1-1 week for the Monks. The junior guard led the Monks with 20 points and was 10-12 from the charity stripe in a win over Emerson on Saturday.

Through five games for the 4-1 Monks, Petzy ranks second on the team with 16.4 points per contest and is the far and away leader in free throws made with 23.

Jobin broke out with 10 points and five boards in a 79-74 win over Emerson on Saturday. The 6'6" forward netted eight points during what proved to be a crucial four-minute span late in the game against the Lions.

Jobin is averaging 3.8 points and 3.2 caroms per contest through five games.

The Monks will host Great Northeast Athletic Conference rival Johnson & Wales University on Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
