O'Brien Nets Honor Roll Mention

STANDISH, ME – SJC senior Zach O'Brien (Schenectady, N.Y.) has been listed on the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Weekly Honor Roll.

O'Brien tallied a team-high 19 points and added seven rebounds in a season-opening victory over University of Maine-Farmington on Wednesday. The second-year co-captain logged 39 minutes of playing time in the 57-47 victory. The honor roll listing is the sixth of O'Brien's career.

A two-time All-GNAC selection and First Team choice last winter, O'Brien netted 22 points in a win over Bowdoin College and now has 1,108 points in his collegiate career. This season, O'Brien has already surpassed Ryan Martin '00 (1,077), Michael Johnson '81 (1,092), Mark Jones '85 (1,101) and Steve Monteiro '05 (1,107) on the Monks' all-time scoring list and currently ranks as the 24th leading scorer in SJC men's basketball history.

Saint Joseph's (2-0) will host University of Southern Maine (4-0) on Sunday at 7:30 PM in the annual battle for the Costello Cup, which is presented to the winner of the annual rivalry contest.
